Susato, Tilman: Three Renaissance Dances

Taken from one of the earliest published collections of Renaissance instrumental dances, these settings for contemporary trumpet quartets produce a brilliant, exciting sound. Following a simple two-part (AB) form, each selection features homophonic construction, root position chords, strong emphasis on primary beats, and individual parts that encompass the range of an octave or less. They can be programmed as a three-movement suite or as separate fanfares.
