Tomaro, Mike: Foreign Intrigue

Brazilian Samba/Funk

Commissioned by the New Trier High School Jazz Ensemble (Winnetka, IL) directed by James Warrick, this creative work alternates between Brazilian samba and funk styles. A strong melodic statement followed by an exciting ensemble section leads to an extended soprano sax solo. Then a call-and-response between trombones and the band adds an unique twist. Rhythm section parts are partially notated with chords cued.
