Englund, Einar: Introduzione e Toccata

This piano work dates from 1950. Many of the elements typical of Englund's piano works are already present here. The introduction, constructed of imposing masses of chords, is followed bu a fast-paced, hammering Bartókian toccata, with shifting tempi and syncopation bringing variety to its compelling rhythm.
