Prokofiev, Sergei: Romeo und Julia

With his ballet adaptation of William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet Sergei Prokofiev created his most comprehensive and significant contribution to the ballet genre. Completed in 1935 and later revised, Prokofiev himself compiled a total of three concert suites from the ballet numbers; in addition, there are countless arrangements by other composers for chamber music ensembles. The composer himself wrote this selection of ten pieces from the ballet music in a virtuoso arrangement for solo piano.
