Jones, Daniel: Soaring Eagles

Soaring Eagles was composed for the inaugural fifth and sixth grade band at Woodside Middle School in the Saydel Community School District in Des Moines Iowa. For an ensemble that needs the stability of mostly unison rhythms and simple subdivisions, this is perfect. It serves as an exciting concert opener, designed for students who need to solidify basic rhythms before encountering the complexities of eighth notes and dotted rhythms. Among the musical highlights are soli sections, dotted-half notes, dynamics and larger interval leaps for a decidedly mature and accomplished effect.
