Parrish, Todd: Anchored

A fun piece for developing string players that reinforces the practice of leaving fingers down, "anchored" to the fingerboard. With a nautical flavor, it explores staccato and legato articulation along with striking dynamic contrast. Low second fingers are found only in the first violin part, and fourth fingers are encouraged in both the violin and viola parts. The powerful melodic material is given to all sections for a dramatic concert selection.
