Hailstork, Adolphus: Monuments

for Trombone and Piano

Completed on the 20th anniversary of 9/11, Adolphus Hailstork’s MONUMENTS is a musical memorial that cries out in mourning, and lifts a song of hope for the future. This noble and lyrical work calls for great expressivity and control from the trombonist, with very sparing use of virtuosity. Performable with piano (114-42312), string quartet or quintet (114-42399), or string orchestra (116-42098), MONUMENTS is a profound, yet versatile addition to the trombone repertoire.
