Adler, Samuel: Two Character Pieces

An inviting and novel work for solo trombone, solo bass trombone, and trombone sextet, the two movements of Samuel Adler’s TWO CHARACTER PIECES could not be more delightfully different from one another. In “Chanting Through Waves,” the soloists duet elegantly above passages of dovetailing arpeggios that roll up and down through the ensemble. “Waltzing with Glee” is a pleasantly quirky, lilting take on the familiar dance form.
