Beffa, Karol: Portraits

Following the model of family portraits that many painters have practiced, I imagined this suite of piano pieces at the request of Mathieu Laine, who wanted to reunite with his family in a single musical memory, and thus pay homage to his wife Alix, his mother Aline, and the six children of their couple. I sprinkled this collection with winks to Ravel, the Groupe des Six, Beethoven's Diabelli Variations ... To convey the variety of characters set to music, I used a tone that was sometimes consoling, sometimes playful, sometimes favoring tenderness, sometimes dynamism, even overflowing energy ... Premiered on November, 23th 2024 at the Château de Saint-Cyr (Saint-Cyr-au-Mont-d'Or, France) by Bertrand Chamayou.
