Gelfer, Samuel: Valiant

Set in uplifting D major, this heroic string orchestra piece captures the triumphant spirit of all who perservere and overcome. First heard in violas in the slower opening, the soaring theme of courage and hope drives forward with unrelenting momentum in the bass ostinato. With a brief key change to B-flat major and approachable shifting in first violin and cello, this work ensures all sections get to play important melodic lines, instilling bold confidence in young players.
