Our Instrument of the Month for August
The harp is a stringed plucked instrument. It is one of the oldest musical instruments in the world and has been known for several thousand years from depictions in Egypt and Mesopotamia.
There are different types of harps, including the concert harp, the hook harp, the Celtic harp, and various folk harps, which differ in size, construction, and sound.
Harps are used in classical music, folk music, church music, as well as in modern pop and film music. Thanks to its long history and its characteristic, soft sound, the harp remains an important instrument in many musical traditions to this day.
To help you get to know this instrument, we are making a free harp piece available for download EVERY SUNDAY IN AUGUST.
