He was the choir director of the St. Trudo monastery, approx. 30 km northwest of Lüttich, Belgium. He composed a series of motets, lyrics for which (“Das Leben des hl. Trudo”) were written in 1566 by Christian Fastraets, a Dominican monk in Leuven.
The motet “In fata dum concesserit iustus” is the only piece of the series known to have survived. It describes how angels carried St. Trudo up to heaven after his death. The library of the monastery was destroyed during the French Revolution and his music was lost to the world. A copy of the handwritten original of the surviving motet was published in the Bulletin de l’Institut archéologique Liégeois, tôme 55, in 1931.
