Albert Schmid : Spring (When the Lovely Spring)

A special kind of spring poem. Not romanticized, rather realistic and down-to-earth, but not without feeling, it puts us in the mood for the new awakening of nature. And hope also remains ...
Friederike Kempner, the presumed author of this poem, was unmarried all her life. In addition to her strong social commitment, she left behind a rich literary oeuvre. Many of her poems are characterized by mostly unintentional comedy, which helped her achieve a high degree of fame during her lifetime and earned her the nickname “Silesian Swan” from literary critics. Subsequently, many parodies of unknown authors appeared in the style of Friederike Kempner. As a result, the text of this spring song cannot be clearly attributed to Friederike Kempner. But one could certainly credit her with it ...
