Malzer, Karl Heinz 11/19/1942

Karl-Heinz Malzer, was born on November 19, 1942 in Pleystein, the pearl of northern Oberpfalz. Beginning at the age of five, from the first piano lesson given by his mother, who was educated at the former Meistersinger Conservatory in Nuremberg, he enjoyed a continual musical training, which culminated in the study(1963 - 1967) at the State Academy of Music in Munich .
Even then, alongside music theory with Prof. Dr. Erich Valentin and musicology with Prof. Dr. Hermann Pfrogner, he turned his personal focus toward the field of choral conducting, which he studied under Prof. Fritz Schieri. Even during his studies, he conducted various choral ensembles.
After artistical and educational examinations, he taught as a music scholar at Augustinus-Gymnasium in Weiden (since 1969). in der Oberpfalz and later in Neustadt/WN (1976).
In addition to working as a Gymnasium teacher - in 1985, he was the director of studies at the Gymnasium Neustadt on the Waldnaab. As of 2007-08 retired - from 1986 - 1992 was a lecturer at the Faculty of Education, University of Erlangen. In his spare time, he devoted himself entirely to chorus work in the Franconian Sängerbund and research on Bohemian composers. Since 1976, he is a member of the Presidium of the FSB. In his role as youth secretary of the FSB Karl-Heinz Malzer,in 1981, he founded together with his wife Renate the Youth Choir of the Franconian Sängerbund and - because the boys grew older. In 1992, at the request of the elders successor, - Choir Mixtura Cantorum.
The youth choir, which celebrated his 25th anniversary in 2006, and Mixtura Cantorum are still directed by him.
In October of 1993, Karl-Heinz Malzer was elected Federal-choirmaster of the Franconian Sängerbund. In 2013, he handed his office to a younger colleague.

He received notable awards during his musical career:
the Music Prize of the district for the Weiden Oberpfalz Chamber Choir, which he founded and led for many years,
Nordgaupreis for the music culture of the Upper Palatinate Federal, (1986)
the Medal of Merit Walther von der Vogelweide, the singer circle Würzburg,
Cultural Award 2002 of the district Neustadt ad Waldnaab,
Carl Gerster medal of the Franconian Sängerbund, (2012)
the Federal Cross of Merit (2013)
Honorary member of the Frankish Sängerbund (2014)

Important musical stages:
a) 1965-1967 choirmaster of the singer stem "Prague Bard"
b) 1967-1969 choir director of the church choir Christ the King in Munich
c) 1969-1977 choirmaster of the "singing and Orchestra Association" pastures
d) 1969-1984 choirmaster of the male choir in Park Stone
e) 1969-2007: Head of two Gymnasium choirs (treble choir, mixed choir) and ensemble groups.
e) 1970-1984 founded and directed the children's choir "Parksteiner Bramblings"
f) 1972-1983 founder and conductor of "Weiden chamber choir"
g) 1981-present: founder and director of "Youth Choir of the FSB", a national choir with young people from all over Franconia and northern Oberpfalz
h) 1985-1996 choirmaster of the male choir "Sängerbund Neustadt ad Waldnaab "
i) 1992 to present:, co-founder and musical director of "Mixtura Cantorum" (resigned from the Youth Choir singers over 27 years)
