Joseph Jacobsen created the canon audio file / audio sample in 1935 ṾiYhuda le'olam teshev?/i. He was a music teacher at the Hamburg Conservatory of Music and at the Hamburg Talmud Torah School. Together with Erwin Jospe, he published a hymn book in 1935 during the Nazi dictatorship which contained Hebrew, Yiddish and German songs. This canon is taken from this book. The text is taken from the Hebrew Bible (Joel 4,20 EU): Hebrew ויהודה לעולם תשב וירושלם וירושלם לדור ודור ודור ṾiYhuda le'olam teshev, ṿiYrushalayim ledor ṿador, English: ''Judah will be inhabited forever and Jerusalem from generation to generation. The melody appears somewhat "oriental" as it avoids the leading note in D-sharp.
Note: Translated from the German version of Wikipedia into English.
