The transition from the traditional Hispanic style to the new "international" style was influenced by the change of the dynasty. After the death of Charles II without a successor to the thrown, a confrontation broke out between the supporters of the new Bourbon dynasty and the advocates of the continuity of the House of Austria. Sebastian Duran was forced into exile by Philip V of Bourbon because of his support for the Austrian candidate to the thrown. The arrival of the Bourbons meant an acceleration in the dissolution of the Hispanic cultural tradition through the arrival of foreign intellectual and artistic posits. Although Durón was considered one of the first and most effective introducers of the French style to the music of the Pyrenees, he himself well embodies in history the decline of the old Hispanic tradition and the handing over of its keys to the cultivators of the new styles. On the other hand, his ''Gaitilla'' takes up many features of the old Hispanic language that are abandoned by the next generation.
