Toni Steingass composed and wrote many songs for the Cologne Carnival.
He founded the “Steingass Trio” in 1946. Later, he performed together with his son Helmut (“Heli” Steingass) as “Die Steingässer, die Lebenskünstler aus Köln” (The Steingässers, the bon vivants from Cologne).
His catalog of works includes around 419 titles. These include not only carnival songs, but also pop songs and Cologne folk songs.
