Perez, Davide: Tenebrae factae sunt
Liber usualis
Davide Perez (1711-1782), who was known to his contemporaries above all as a composer of operas, wrote this skilful late baroque passiontide motet setting of the well-known words from the story of Christs Passion. The composer Enjott Schneider was inspired by this composition to write his work Tenebrae for soprano, violin and organ (ED 9668). We suggest that a concert performance might feature Tenebrae together with this motet by Davide Perez, performed by a choir a cappella.
