Violintechnik
There is no violin method that is suitable for all pupils. But there is a large number of important educational traditions which can inspire the pupil's personal artistic and technical development. Jeanne Christée set out to search for evidence: from Geminiani's The Art of Playing the Violin, published in 1751, to Ricci on Glissando from 2007. The essential points of these different violin methods are complemented by insights into her own teaching practice. In addition, she talks with renowned fellow educationalists like Hilary Hahn and Vadim Repin about the significance of the historical methods for one's personal violin technique. The result of her excursions is a comparative guide through the vast number of traditions which comments on and sums up the respective characteristics, thus imparting vital information on performance practice and music aesthetics.
