Regensburg, 1096: The young novice Marian dreams of praising God with Gregorian chants. But when he saves a Jew from being forcibly baptized, a rival uses this to accuse him of a serious crime. On this adventurous journey, he ends up at the glamorous court of Duke Guillaume IX of Aquitaine and his wife Philippa, where he meets the Moorish singer Sahar. Marian immediately falls for her style of music - as does the young woman herself. But before the two can live the love they sing about, they have to overcome crosses and church banishment, intrigues and power struggles. Author's portrait Julia Kröhn was born in Linz (Austria) in 1975 and lives in Frankfurt am Main. A historian by training, her great passion is not only telling stories, but also dealing with history: When she is not writing a new historical novel or gathering inspiration on research trips, she passes on her knowledge as a history teacher at a grammar school and as a guide at the Historical Museum.
