Michael Drewes : Irini - Version for String Quartet

This is the string quartet version of my contribution to the 2014 Diabelli Contest, for which a piano piece was required as variations on a given theme in Morse code of the Greek word for "Peace", which is "Irini". Since the theme was only rhythmic in nature, one was free to use whatever harmonies one liked. In order to get a correct representation of the several fugues that appear in my version, I recurred to the string quartet layout and transcribed it later for piano.
