Franz (Peter) Schubert : Boatsong Arr. de Reinhard Fehling
In his original edition of 1826, Schubert used the German adaptation by Adam Storck as the basis for the setting. He added the original English text to the composition only for the first verse; the other three verses were printed as plain text after the song. Due to the different verse meter and syllable distribution in English, slight rhythmic modifications had to be made to the musical text when underlaying verses 2 - 4. The result is the first complete version in the original English language.
